It’s bingo. But it’s Bolsover bingo. Because instead of numbers you’ve got Bolsover stuff on your card. Like ‘Skinner’ and ‘William Cavendish’ and ‘the wimps’ (actually they are the only three ideas we have for things to put on the cards. Which is why we need your help).
And it’s not just words; it might be images or even sounds. Like a really great pub sign. Or a snippet of a song from the prize winning Northfield Primary School choir.
We’re currently looking for people to help us devise our Bolsover bingo as part of the First Art programme. And we need to work fast because we have to gather images and sounds, and come up with key words and phrases that evoke what Bolsover is. We’ll need a lot. Ninety in all.
And just as in bingo each number has its own special definition – ‘two fat ladies’, ‘key to the door’, ‘Danny LaRue / Chicken Vindaloo’ – so in our game of Bolsover Bingo each number will have a story attached to it. And the act of playing the game will also be an exploration of what makes Bolsover tick. It’ll be a fun packed mixture of storytelling, local history, strange soundscapes, unusual images and competitive urges.
And then we’ll take our game of Bolsover Bingo out across the town on the weekend of October the 16th and the 17th; and to play it with as many groups and people as possible.
