After over a year of gathering stories, visiting archives, going on walks, running workshops, and learning all about Nottingham’s largest nature reserve and most important green space – and certainly the wildest – we’re ready to launch our free to use audio storytelling guide.
Two hours of stories, memories, and information over 24 tracks and featuring 15 voices, dig deep into the social and ecological history of this unique site taking the listener through the many and varied landscapes that can be found in Colwick Woods.
The launch takes place on Wednesday 22nd July from 6.45 to 8pm at Bakersfield Community Centre, 312 Sneinton Dale and everyone is invited. We will hand out maps, explain how to access and use the guide, and hear live readings of some of the stories – including sledging down Mile Run and memories of the P.O.W camp. There will be cake!
Please do spread the word and let’s get as many people out and about in the woods and listening to these stories as we can.
The project has been supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
