Congress

This project looks to make connections with the thirty nine cities across the world that, like Nottingham, are UNESCO Cities of Literature. It’s a simple idea but one that allows the voices of playwrights from inside and outside of Europe to be heard here in Nottingham; both through rehearsed readings of their plays and in conversations with the writers themselves.

This is an idea we’ve had for a while, having had some discussions with a number of cities and the Nottingham Playhouse. The war in Ukraine led to us hosting a version of this, with the reading at the Nottingham Playhouse of The Time Travellers Guide to Donbass, and we are looking at picking up this idea again soon.
