Breathing Spaces
Commissioned by the Nottingham Historic Green Spaces project, and funded by the AHRC, this promenade performance was a real challenge – a site specific performance for a number of different sites. Examining the social history of the ‘green lungs’ of Nottingham that were created after the 1845 Enclosure Act, it lead the audience on a journey through 165 years of history and four of Nottingham’s most loved parks.
Featuring live music and a cast that featured many new faces (and with a much younger feel than some of our other shows) we created a number of lovely set pieces amongst some wonderful settings. And throughout the importance of the need to fight for the preservation of these open spaces, which were carved out of common land, was clear.
