Well it’s been a fantastically busy summer and autumn with four projects being created and performed. We’ll be posting some images of But I Know This City! soon, but watch out for a piece on it in The Spectator on December 5th (the chief sub editor who came to see the performance called it ‘beyond wonderful’).
Now we begin a new slate of projects, starting with the Winter Warmers for First Art, which will see Deirdre and Dale re-appear in a variety of guises in Bolsover, Mansfield, Creswell, Sutton and Dronsfield over the next three months. As December commences we begin research in earnest for our work with the Hidden Histories project, examining what it means to be a refugee in Nottingham in 2016, and this will result in a performance later next year. And at the same time we begin work on our collaboration with Charnwood Arts and Loughborough College on a large scale community performance in the town based on a Zeppelin attack there in 1916, which will be performed in mid May.
There are plans afoot to retour Thorney Beginnings, Marvellous Middles and Moorends again in some form; and the possibility that the wonderfully chaotic Bolsover Bingo may make a reappearance.
We’re also currently waiting on funding bids for a number of projects, including one around some of Nottingham’s historic parks, and a potential collaboration with City Arts. Our Five AM Theatre Show idea may just get off the ground (we’re looking for partners right now), and we’ve also got our fingers crossed that a collaboration with 5ekwartier from Haarlem in the Netherlands will come to fruition.
We’re in conversations with writers and performers about new pieces based on Leicester suffragettes and Lincoln conchies. And finally our Luddite play The Hammer of Defiance is the basis for what will be a brand new main stage show at the Nottingham Playhouse for 2017, again working with Martin Berry, in which we hope to include a community cast.
So … onwards and upwards.
